Magic and wonder were on display in the Deyan Masterclass last night. The great PJ Ochlan and Amber Beard from Penguin Random House coached us through some amazing performances. Here are my key takeaways:
- Mind the neutral narrator. Give the narrator as much personality, emotion and reaction as possible.
- When the narrator is engaged, it allows us to follow as listeners. It’s like the score to a film.
- Always keep it real. Don’t get lost in what you feel it SHOULD sound like.
- It’s in the emotional connectivity that the magic is found. It’s all in the right brain.
Thanks PJ, Amber, and the Deyan Institute for an amazing Masterclass!
